Something's Afoot,
A Thriller
At the Publick Playhouse, Prince George's Little Theatre brings down the cutrain to thunderous applause, laughter, and murdered cast members. The choice, directed by John Dow, was "Something's Afoot" a murder mystery musical by James McDonald, Robert Gerlach, and David Vas. The cast and Dow's directing is enough to make you crave for more next season.
"Something's Afoot" reminds one of Agatha Christie's "The Ten Little Indians."
A musical number plays tribute to Agatha Christie. Ten characters accept
Lord Rancour's invitation to stay for a party at his 1935 renovated English castle. From that point on there is thrilling, yet laughable havoc.
Miss Tweed IGay Hill} leads the company in a rendition of "Something's
Afoot." Following right along are Lettie Sharon Golden, Flint (Rich Fogg), Clive (Ray Bellamy Jr.). Hope (Penny Russelll, Dr. Grayburn (Ellwood
Armaheim). Nigel Rancour (Ed Payne). Lady Grace (Joanne Jones). Col. Gillweather (Ron Sarro) and Geoffrey (IBrad Tresek}.
Lord Rancour's guests are a mystery in themselves leading to fast and fun games of "guess who" and "guess who done it?" The audience had a rousing time with the cast's incredible acts of dying, musical double-entendres, and weaponry defying the imagination. Lettie and Flint's rendition of "Dinghy" is enough to keep me awake at night just waiting for their next season.
